The tech prediction for 2013 from the New York Times’ Bits blog is that mobile will continue its ascendancy. Mobile already accounts for 37% of time spent online. The shift from desktop to mobile is changing how people use the internet, too. Search engines are used differently on mobile, with specialized search focused by topic and location becoming increasingly important. Another change is how aligned mobile is with social networking which is the primary use of these devices for many users, as well as with video.
